Diane Hatz is the Founder & Executive Director of Change Food. She’s been working toward a better food system for nearly 20 years and is sharing her thoughts as she prepares for The Change Food Fest in New York City on November 12th, 2016.
I believe any work that requires thinking is an act of creation and is a form of art, so I have decided to chronicle the making of The Change Food Fest. I want to show not just the logistics and planning that go into putting on an event but also the thinking, discovery and invention involved with creating an experience.
With this process, I hope to uncover my thoughts about where the food movement is, my place within it, and where we might be going. I hope to explore questions, discuss processes and see where this takes us all. And I hope to discover things that might help push the food movement forward.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I will spend no more than half an hour(ish) on a post and will try to get them up daily. There might be typos; there might be run on sentences; there might be half thought out ideas. But this is what creation is – it cannot happen in a vacuum. If you have any suggestions, thoughts, or questions, please feel free to leave them below. Maybe together we can create an even better Change Food Fest experience than I could on my own – and beyond that, maybe together we can create a stronger voice for positive change.
The Change Food Fest “Growing the Good Food Movement” will take place in New York City on November 12th and 13th, 2016. We will explore and celebrate change happening in the food system. Rather than simply talk about problems, we will actively look at solutions that are leading us to the sustainable food system we wish to see. Our focus will be on both real and visionary change and will include an exploration into seafood, plant based vs meat diets, possible impacts of new businesses and investment money coming into the food space – and much more. You can purchase a ticket or host a viewing party of the live webcast in your local community. Follow the action at #CFFest2016!
