Marketing and promoting an event is just as important, if not in some ways more important, than the actual event. Really.
So it is with a lot of trepidation and caution that Change Food is (well, I am…) jumping into Snapchat. (Younger team members are well versed in chatting. Snapping? What is it called?….)
We’ve held off with the previous TEDxManhattan events because of the learning curve and because not that many people were using it, but now that Snapchat has surpassed Instagram in popularity, it is time.
Do I want the world to see me haggard, awake for 48 hours, trying to get the event together? Not really. But I go in with the hope that it will be liberating. That speaking spontaneously will free up space to dig deeper into ideas I have for the future of Change Food and my contribution to the food movement. And I hope it will spark conversation and creativity from others.
I’ve done this type of creative exploration before, but, this time, it seems like anyone who wants can watch the process. It’s daunting – but I’m ready for the challenge. You’ll also get to meet the other people helping out with the event – if I’m snapchatting, everyone on my team is snapchatting!
So I hope you will join us – our username is changefood.
