Change Food® is honored to have been invited to participate in the National Day of Service for the inauguration of President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris on Monday, January 18th, to celebrate and honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Virtual and socially distanced in-person events are happening across the country – and Change Food is co-hosting two of them. We hope you can join us for one or both.
Change Food: Plant Eat Share
On January 18th, from 11am-1pm pst / 12-2pm mt / 2-4pm est, please join Change Food and co-host Boma Grow USA for a virtual hackathon and research event to continue pinpointing community programs around the world that are growing and sharing food for free.
The goal is to develop a database of this information so interested individuals and groups can determine the best way to help feed neighbors in their area. We will also be looking for guides and best practices manuals for the public to use because Change Food believes that everyone has the right to healthy, safe, delicious, food.
Register and join us! Capacity is limited to 30 people.
Cooking for Community Fridges: Tips, Recipes and Cooking Demos
On the same day, from 7-9am pst / 8-10am mt / 10am-12pm est, please join Change Food, East Village Neighbors, and the restaurant S’MAC (the three founders of the East Village Neighbors Community Fridge in NYC) in a virtual event to learn about community fridges – what they are, how they’re feeding people in desperate need right now, and how you can get involved in helping keep a fridge in your area stocked.
We’re including a couple cooking demos to share dishes you can make to enjoy yourself and to share with a fridge or community group in your area. We also hope to develop a cookbook for neighbors of fridges – stay tuned for more on that.
The first 100 people will be able to join us on Zoom, and we will also air the event on YouTube should there be additional interested folks.
About the National Day of Service
The National Day of Service for the Inauguration of President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris will celebrate and honor the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on January 18, 2021. The National Day of Service is an opportunity for all Americans to unite and serve at a time when the global pandemic calls on all of us to work together and support our communities. No matter where you are, you have an opportunity to give back and the agency to do so. Most volunteer activities only require an hour or two of your time, and all events will be virtual or socially distanced, in accordance with CDC protocol.

To help support Change Food’s efforts to maintain the East Village Neighbors Fridge, help other fridges around the country, and to find, promote and launch other efforts to help communities provide food for neighbors, please donate – from $5 to $5000, no amount is too small; no amount too big! You can also sign up to stay in touch. Thank you.
