Alain Coumont is the founder of the Belgian bakery and restaurant, Le Pain Quotidien, and currently serves as the company’s Chief Creative Officer. In this role, he remains the driving force behind the brand’s culinary innovation and dedication to organic ingredients.
He is also the founder of Le Botaniste, a 100% organic and plant-based restaurant with locations in Ghent, Belgium and New York City.
In Alain’s spare time, he tends to his fields of organic wheat at his home in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France and pursues his passion for natural winemaking. Prior to founding Le Pain Quotidien, Alain worked in a number of highly regarded restaurants including Michel Guérard (France), Georges Blanc (Vonnas, France) and Joel Robuchon (Paris, France). Alain graduated from hotel management school in Namur, Belgium.
