Martina Lynch (born December 2nd, 1995) is an American rapper, song writer and poet from Baltimore, MD (Also known as Tina TurntUP). Martina is mostly known for her talents as an emcee and spoken word artist. Influenced by legends such as Tupac, MC Lyte and Queen Latifah; Martina wrote her first rap at age 8. She began her musical journey in 2010, performing through out the DMV and releasing her first mix tape “The Climax” (available on Datpiff) in 2014. In 2013 she was chosen to do a televised performance on Bet’s 106 and park. In 2015, she competed in the international MC Olympics (Brave New Voices) and placed in the top 3. That same year she was crowned “Female Emcee of the year in Baltimore City and placed 1st in the Baltimore MC Olympics.
Growing up in a poverty stricken community, Martina Lynch focuses on Hip Hop and poetry because she believes to write and express is to heal. While the uprising surrounding Freddie Gray happened in Baltimore, Martina teamed up with local rap legend Young Moose and created a song called No sunshine. The song was nominated and won Top Protest song of the year in the state of Maryland. Martina started to gain more popularity and soon signed to local label “Out the Mud ent.” Later she collaborated with a local ice cream company by the name of “Taharka Brothers,” a company that makes ice cream flavors to spark conversations about social justice. Martina saw this as another opportunity to uplift and inspire her community and became one of the CEO’s for the sales and marketing department. Martina continues her journey today spreading peace and truth through different forms of art.
