From 2011 – 2015, TEDxManhattan “Changing the Way We Eat” was a popular and influential event that leveraged the well-known TED conference style to engage a wider audience by highlighting bold and innovative sustainable food and farming initiatives from around the country and, increasingly, the world. TEDxManhattan was licensed and organized by Diane Hatz, founder and executive director of Change Food.
Bringing together thought leaders from the food movement for over 5 years, TEDxManhattan sparked discussion and spread ideas for improving the food system. All TEDxManhattan talks are still available as individual videos on YouTube, and these videos have been viewed more than six million times. In the words of Ken Cook, founder and president of the Environmental Working Group, “This institution, TEDxManhattan, has changed the food movement.”
As of April 2015, TEDxManhattan “Changing the Way We Eat” has been retired. Licensee Diane Hatz will continue with events, conferences and a wider range of experiences focused on sustainable food and farming, so please opt in to her mailing list for more information. All future events produced by Diane will not be affiliated with TED, TEDx or TEDxManhattan.
This is not the end – this is an exciting beginning of huge things to come. Join us!
The official statement from licensee Diane Hatz and TED:
“TED and the TEDxManhattan licensee have mutually agreed to retire the TEDxManhattan event as it previously existed under Diane Hatz from 2011 to 2015. TEDxManhattan licensee Diane Hatz will continue with a food and farming focused event separate from TED, the TEDx program and TEDxManhattan. She will be exploring new opportunities and experiences within this exciting field, and while the TEDxManhattan event as she led it will be retired, Diane will continue to be an active supporter and member of the global TEDx community.
All TEDxManhattan videos and photos will remain online and be available to the public to honor the event team, community and speakers from previous TEDxManhattan events.
The TEDxManhattan licensee thanks TED for the opportunity over six years to organize and host TEDxManhattan and to be a part of TED.”
And many thanks to the tens of thousands of you who made TEDxManhattan so successful. We’ve only just begun to embark on our new adventure outside of TED and TEDx so join us as we plant new seeds and grow!
